Now retired, Mr. Clyde led a successful career in the banking industry for more than four decades. At the beginning of his career, he worked as an assistant secretary of the Investment Banking, Portfolio, and Funds Management Division for Pittsburgh National Bank in Pennsylvania from 1965 to 1968. A short time later, he accepted a position with Crocker National Bank in San Francisco, California, and was promoted to manager of the Investment Banking Department in 1973. During his time with Crocker, Mr. Clyde held the posts of manager of the Capital Markets and Portfolio and Funds Management divisions. He was elected a senior vice president of the bank in 1976 and two years later, executive vice president. He also served as a member on the bank's Senior Policy Committee until his departure in 1986.
Soon thereafter, Mr. Clyde joined UK based Midland Bank Group, as a managing director and a member of the board of directors of Midland's merchant banking subsidiary, Samuel Montagu and Co. Ltd. Based in New York City, he was responsible for Midland-Montagu's U.S. based capital markets, securities, investment banking and treasury activities. Moreover, Mr. Clyde briefly served as executive vice president and a manager of global financial institutions marketing for American Express Bank Ltd., in New York City, for a year.
In 1988, Mr. Clyde joined Mellon Bank, in Pittsburgh, as an executive vice president and manager of the Capital Markets, Portfolio, and Funds Management and Financial Institutions divisions. He also served as a member of the bank's Senior Management Committee. Mr. Clyde concluded his career with the company in 2000 as manager of Global Securities Lending.
Throughout his profession, Mr. Clyde maintained active involvement in a variety of career-related endeavors. He served as a director of the Public Securities Association from 1976-1983 and chairman of the Association in 1982. He was also a member of PSA's Government Borrowing Committee, an official advisory committee to the US Treasury, for seven years. He chaired the American Bankers Association, bank Investment and Funds Management Division in 1983.
Additionally, Mr. Clyde served on the board of Directors of the Federal Farm Credit Banks, Funding Corporation, from 2000 through 2007. He is also the past president of the Las Campanas, water and Sewer Cooperative, and was a member of the organization's advisory board from 2006 to 2014.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Mr. Clyde pursued a formal education at Utah State University, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in 1964 and a Master of Science degree in 1965. The proud father of two adult daughters, Mr. Clyde currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
