Mr. Wong is a retired engineer and consultant with 60 years of distinguished contributions to the field. He attended the University of Hawaii, graduating with honors in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. In 1955, he completed a Master of Science in civil engineering from Yale University.
From 1955 to 1958, Mr. Wong was an engineer for North American Aviation in Downey, California. Mr. Wong joined Ramo Woolridge Space Technical Laboratories in Redondo Beach, California, in 1958 as a member of technical staff, where he remained until 1964. In 1964, Mr. Wong helped form Mechanics Research Incorporated in El Segundo, California, and served as Technical Director, Treasurer, and Executive Vice President until 1977. From 1977 to 1978, he was Treasurer of Systems Development Corporation in Santa Monica, California. In 1979, Mr. Wong formed Applied Research, Incorporated and served as President and Treasurer from 1979 to 1981. Mr. Wong was an independent engineering consultant from 1981 until his retirement in 2014.
Mr. Wong's extensive independent engineering consulting portfolio includes work for clients including Boeing Space and Intelligence, Boeing Space Systems, Raytheon, TriSept, NASA, Hughes Space and Communications, Kodak Datatape, E Systems, TRW, Tompkin and Associates, Measurement Analysis, Swales and Associates, Ampex, and many more. He was the recipient of the 71st Pioneer Award from the United States Government National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) 2007; Boeing Company Technical Excellence Award 2002; and the 137th Seal Medallion Award from the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) 2001. He also earned two United States Government National Reconnaissance Office Director's Medals in 2001 and 2007. In his retirement, he enjoys metal machining, and maintains a functional machine shop in his home.
