With a passion for mathematics that stems from his childhood, Dr. Mulatu Lemma was inspired to pursue a career where he could share his passion with others.

With a passion for mathematics that stems from his childhood, Dr. Lemma was inspired to pursue a career where he could share his passion with others. Since 1994, he has excelled as a mathematics professor with Savannah State University and maintains his expertise in sequence and series, as well as summability theory. Over the years, Dr. Lemma has authored more than 100 articles in the field such as "Logarithmic Transformations into G," "The Abel-type transformations into Gw," "The ℓ-Tranlativity of Abel-type matrix" and "Abel-type weighted means transformations into ℓ," which have been featured in professional publications, including Southeast Asian Bulletin of Mathematics and the International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences. In 2011, He introduced the Mulatu Number (named after him) to the mathematical community and to the world. The numbers are comparable to the two celebrity numbers series: the Fibonacci and Lucas Numbers.
Prior to embarking upon his professional path, Dr. Lemma pursued an education through a university in Ethiopia, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1977 from Addis Ababa University. He continued his studies at the aforementioned university in 1982, obtaining a Master of Arts in applied mathematics in 1982. Following these accomplishments, he enrolled at Kent State University, where he garnered a Master of Arts in pure mathematics in 1993. Dr. Lemma concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Philosophy from Kent State University in 1994. He enjoys doing research with students. He was greatly supported and inspired in his research activities by Professors John Friday, Chellu Chetty, Jonathan Lambright and Mohammed Mustafa.
Due to his wealth of expertise in his field, Dr. Lemma was designated as a Distinguished Professor through Savannah State University in 2010. In 2012, he was presented with the University System of Georgia Board of Regents' Teaching Excellence Award for Faculty in Regional and State Universities. The following year, he was recognized as the Georgia Professor of the Year. More recently, he became one of the most awarded professors in the state of Georgia. Looking toward the future, Dr. Lemma intends to continue parlaying his love of mathematics to his students at Savannah State University.
