Mr. Frazer is a fine art photographer with more than 45 years of innovation in his medium. His interest in photography stemmed from a passion for science, and he began taking photos while working a summer job at a science lab in college. He quickly discovered his talent for the visual arts, and changed his college major from science to art, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College in 1971. Mr. Frazer earned a Master of Visual Arts from Georgia State University in 1973.
From 1972 to 1982, Mr. Frazer was an instructor at the Atlanta College of Art, Georgia State University, and Mercer University of Atlanta. In 1973, he was one of the founders of Nexus, a cooperative gallery space in Atlanta showcasing contemporary photographic work that later became the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. He served as the president of the gallery through 1974, and remained on the board of directors until 1981. Mr. Frazer considers his time at Nexus to be the highlight of his career.
Mr. Frazer's work has been shown internationally in group and solo shows at museums and art centers since the 1970s. He is represented in the permanent collections of the Michael C. Carlos Museum, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, and the High Museum of Art, among others, and has accepted commissions from collectors and corporate clients as diverse as HBO, Prudential Life Insurance, and McDonald's.
