A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. Latta earned a Bachelor of Science in 1982, and subsequently received a Doctor of Medicine from East Tennessee State University in 1986. Moreover, he served as an intern and resident in pediatrics with Dartmouth College in New Hampshire from 1986 to 1988 as well as a resident in pediatrics with Stanford University in California between 1988 and 1989. He continued his career as a fellow in neonatology at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and the University of Tennessee in Memphis between 1989 and 1992. Dr. Latta further progressed as an attending neonatologist with Rose Medical Center in Denver, Forrest General Hospital in Mississippi and the Methodist Hospitals in Tennessee between 1992 and 1999.
Dr. Latta excelled as a neonatologist with the Intermountain Healthcare in Provo, Utah, and the Children's Hospital of Central California in Madera, from 2000 to 2007, before serving as a neonatologist and medical director with Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, California, between 2007 and 2016. Since 2017, he has found success as a neonatologist with Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Utah. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he served as a chairperson of pediatrics with the Kaweah Delta Medical Center from 2012 to 2016. Civically, Dr. Latta has been involved with the Salt Lake City Olympics, the Salt Lake City Medical Corps and the Best Friend Animal Society.
In a career filled with many achievements, Dr. Latta is proud to have become a certified physician executive with the American Association for Physician Leadership. A testament to his success, he has been presented a grant from the National Institutes of Health as well as honored as a Johnny J. Jones Scholar and a March of Dimes Scholar. To remain up to date with developments in the field, he maintains a relationship with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Wilderness Medical Society and Phi Eta Sigma. Outside of his career, Dr. Latta enjoys skiing, camping, jazz, aquariums and scuba diving in his spare time.
