Nusim Associates, Inc., in Aventura, Florida, since 1994. His successful background included a tenured career with Merck and Company, Inc., in Rahway, New Jersey, for 37 years. Hired in 1957 as a researcher in chemical engineering research and development, he later acquired several management positions in technology and manufacturing and eventually served as the executive director of licensee operations worldwide for the manufacturing division in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, before retiring from the pharmaceutical company in 1994. Additionally, Dr. Nusim contributed for four years as the vice president of manufacturing and operations for Therics Inc., a Princeton, New Jersey, based biopharmaceutical company and nearly twenty years as Vice-President of manufacturing for Danco Laboratories, a new York based biopharmaceutical company.
Dr. Nusim is a former board director of AGI Dermatics in Freeport, New York, serving between 1998 and 2008. The company is recognized as a world leader in DNA repair technology. Dr. Nusim also provided 18 years on the advisory board for City College of New York in the school of engineering between 1982 and 2004.
Responsible for several U.S. and foreign patents, Dr. Nusim's work has been related to the continuous manufacture of halogenated acetone, the development of clean room concepts for API manufacturing and the development of sophisticated training techniques for sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing. He was also responsible with Danco for bringing the abortion pill to the U.S., which had great significance. Further, Dr. Nusim authored "Kinetic Studies on C4 Hydrocarbon Systems" in 1967. Much later, he was the editor of "Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients: Development, Manufacturing and Regulation" in 2005, the second edition arriving in 2009.
Before embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Nusim pursued a formal education. An alumnus of City College of New York, Dr. Nusim received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1957. He soon after attended New York University, where he completed a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1960 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1967.
Dr. Nusim is a member and a former board director of the New Jersey section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, where he was awarded a scholarship in 1955. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society.
