Ms. Margaret (Margo) Weil Sidener has served as the chief executive officer of Breathe California of the Bay Area (and under its former name) since 1988.

SAN JOSE, CA, October 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Margaret (Margo) Weil Sidener with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Sidener celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Sidener has served as the chief executive officer of Breathe California of the Bay Area (and under its former name) since 1988. A century-old local nonprofit, the group is dedicated to clean air and healthy lungs. It fights lung disease and works with its communities to promote lung health, advocating public policy, supporting research, and educating the public. In doing so, they support those suffering from COPD, sleep apnea, asthma, TB, and nicotine addiction.

Working diligently to achieve her career goals, Ms. Sidener originally planned to teach health education when she moved to California, but due to massive teacher lay-offs there after the passage of Proposition 13 prior to her arrival, she was unable to secure a position. In 1982, she became a volunteer at her agency, then an American Lung Association affiliate, and then accepted a paid position and began to rise through the ranks, as program coordinator, program director, and finally CEO.

Making great strides in her field, Ms. Sidener was at the forefront of the passage of dozens of local ordinances that were among the first in the nation to protect people from secondhand smoke. She authored asthma education and smoking cessation curricula used nationwide, served as a National Clinic Leader Trainer of smoking cessation facilitators, served on the Citizens' Oversight Committee for District One during the consideration of the Metcalf Power Plant (for which she received a special award for courage), and was appointed to the Health Advisory Committee for California State Assembly member Sally Lieber. She founded four community collaboratives, and served on the state leadership teams for both SEHAC (School Environmental Health and Asthma Collaborative) and the California Asthma Partnership.

Ms. Sidener received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Illinois in 1971 with the Bronze Tablet Award (highest academic achievement), as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Alpha Lambda Delta honorary groups; she received her Master of Science degree at Russell Sage College in 1979 with highest honors. She is a certified K-12 teacher and maintains a credential as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

She has been active in numerous service clubs including San Jose Rotary and Habitat for Humanity and served on the Board of Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits for many years. Plus she has held many key volunteer positions at church, in Scouts, and at her children's schools.

Ms. Sidener's awards and recognitions have included: the California Wellness Foundation Sabbatical Award; Woman of Distinction by Alpha Xi Delta; Top 100 Women of Influence by Silicon Valley Business Journal; and the 2010 Rising Star Award, Western Region, Clean Cities Coalition Coordinators, US DOE. She is also a celebrated Marquis listee. She has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Margaret Weil Sidener has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
