Vicky Tsalamata Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Tsalamata is a talented visual artist, specializing in expanded printmaking and digital media. She is also a fine art curator. She has been teaching as a full professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts in her native city of Athens, Greece, for the past 16 years. During her career on campus, she directed the 2nd Printmaking Studio of the Athens School of Fine Arts and for several years she was elected as the Director of the Printmaking Department of the Athens School of Fine Arts. Ms. Tsalamata, on her teaching program at the A.S.F.A., has introduced for the first time in the academic community, a research program based on the innovative Non Toxic and Polymer Printmaking, combined with Digital Technology. Ms. Tsalamata previously worked as a freelance artist between 1975 and 1998.

In the international printmaking community she is a very active participant artist: in 1999 and 2001 she was an invited commissioner for the Greek delegation at the 5th and 6th International Biennial of Drawing and Graphic Arts at the Varosi Municipal Museum of Arts in Győr.

Over the course of her career she has served as a jury member in national and international print competitions and biennials around the world including the 8th International Printmaking Biennale, of Dry Point, Uzice, in Serbia 2005, the 5th 'Enter into Art' 2019 international competition in Germany and member of the Jury Committee in the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, for many years up until the present.

A celebrated figure in the art world, Ms. Tsalamata's works includes expanded prints, print installations and digital media work. Her international artistic practice includes international exhibitions, collaborative art projects, as well as educational-collaborative works with postgraduate students. Her artwork has been on display at approximately 35 solo exhibitions, numerous, by honorary invitation, in museums, municipalities, universities and institutions in Greece and around the world. Since 1975 Tsalamata's work has been exhibited in many of the main Print Biennials and exhibitions of contemporary art across the globe obtaining numerus awards and recognitions.

Selected solo exhibitions in the context of International Biennials:

In 1994 she represented Greece at the XVIII Biennial of Alexandria in Egypt –as participant member of the Greek delegation in Egypt.

In September 2001, she was invited by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the XXI Biennial of Alexandria to participate with her one woman solo exhibition at the Museum of Arts in Alexandria, Egypt. In 2003 she was invited by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture to represent Greece at the XXII Biennial of Alexandria.

In 2001 the Galerija FLU of the Belgrade University and the Nadežda Petrović Municipal Gallery in Čačak, Serbia, held her one woman solo exhibitions in the context of her award at the 5th International Biennial of Belgrade in Serbia.

In 2002 The Bratislava City Gallery invited her in the two women exhibition held in Pálffy Palace, Bratislava Slovakia.

In 2007 the Municipal Museum of Arts, Győr, Hungary, held her one woman solo exhibition at the Synagogue Municipal Museum of Arts in Győr, as invited artist, in the context of the 9th Biennial "The Masters of Graphic Arts" in Győr, Hungary and in 2008 at the Slovak National Gallery Vermes Villa, in Dunajská Streda, Slovakia.

In 1990 The Maliotis Cultural Center in Boston held her one woman solo exhibition in Boston, U.S.A.

To prepare for her renowned career, Ms. Tsalamata received a Diploma in Graphic Design at the Athenian Technical Institute and a Diploma –BFA-1973 in Painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna, Italy. She received the M.A. in Printmaking, 1983 at the famous for excellence and world leading Slade School of Fine Arts, (U.C.L.) University College of London. Postgraduate studies in the art of papermaking at the London College of Printing (renamed to the London College of Communication LCC).

Between 2004 and 2006, she ran research programs related to the New Technology in Printmaking at Columbia College Chicago, U.S.A and the Non Toxic Printmaking methods at the Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop in Scotland.

She holds a Diplôme de Langue Française, through the République Française-Ambassade de France a Athènes. She holds a Certificat Pratique de Langue Française through the University of Paris. She holds a Diplôme d'Etudes Littéraires et de Civilisation Françaises through the République Française-Ambassade de France a Athènes. She holds a Certificate of knowledge of the Italian language at the Universitá Italiana per Stranieri di Perugia in Italy.

Active with several professional organizations, including as a member of the Artistic Association in Greece, the Fédération Internationale Culturelle Féminine and the Nautical Museum of Greece, Tsalamata is also a founding member of the Greek Printmakers' Association since 1986 and member of the administrative committee for many years. On a more local level, she has been involved with the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece for many years. Ms. Tsalamata notably served on the committee for international relations with the Chamber's administration board, as a curator of the printmaking sector and as a juror for national and international competitions.

In 1980, Ms. Tsalamata was awarded a First Prize in Graphic Art by the municipality of Serra San Quirico.

In 1998, she was awarded from the University of Belgrade at the 5th International Printmaking Biennial of Belgrade. In 2008, awarded with the First Prize at the 1st International Print Triennial in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Ms. Tsalamata has been honored with several major international awards as well, including a First Prize in Printmaking from the House of Letters and Arts in Athens in 1985, in 1994 she was awarded in Printmaking at the Biennale of Alessandria, Egypt; in 1968 she was awarded in Graphic Design Competition at the 34th International Exhibition in Thessaloniki, Greece; Awarded at the Concours International de la Palme d' Or des Beaux Arts I.A.G. Monte Carlo, Monaco,1976, 1978, Saint Lố, France, 1979.

A celebrated Marquis listee, she has been featured in the 63rd through 69th editions of Who's Who in America, as well as the 22nd through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World.
