An acclaimed psychiatrist with decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Kalogjera has excelled in his private practice specializing in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry since 1981. Additionally, he works as clinical professor of psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin, an honorary staff member with Aurora Psychiatric Hospital and as the founder and the leader of the Milwaukee Group for the Advancement of Self-Psychology. Over the years, Dr. Kalogjera has also gained valuable industry experience in education as a professor and the director of Adolescent In-patient Service.
Previously, Dr. Kalogjera excelled as an associate and assistant clinical professor of psychiatry with the Medical College of Wisconsin. He further completed fellowships with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and The American Psychiatric Association. Utilizing his wealth of industry experience, Dr. Kalogjera contributed a book chapter to the book, "Disordered Couple," co-authored work in the American Journal of Psychotherapy, and authored "Hospital and Community Psychiatry."
Before starting in the field, Dr. Kalogjera earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Zagreb, where he then completed an internship. Subsequently, he pursued a residency in psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati. In order to remain aware of changes in an ever-evolving field, he is affiliated with the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology, American Society of Addiction Medicine, American Group Psychotherapy Association, American Medical Association, and many more. During his spare time, Dr. Kalogjera contributes to his Croatian community.
For his professional accomplishments, Dr. Kalogjera has been honored on a plethora of occasions. In addition to obtaining teaching awards through the Medical College of Wisconsin, he accepted the Irma Bland Award from the American Psychiatric Association in 2006, and many Compassionate Doctor Awards, the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, many On-Time Doctor Awards, and many Top 1% Doctor Awards. In 2019 alone, he received 14 professional awards. Dr. Kalogjera was further selected for inclusion among America's Best Physicians via the National Consumer Advisory Board as well as in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
