Ms. Matthews began her career as a student at Furman University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science, magna cum laude, in 2005. She continued her studies with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, in 2008. She is renowned for her expertise in estate planning, administration, business and corporate law, and general advising and risk management.
Throughout her career, Ms. Matthews has been recognized for her contributions. She was named a "Rising Star" for the fourth consecutive year in North Carolina's 2019 Super Lawyers publication, an honor bestowed upon less than 2.5 percent of lawyers in North Carolina. Likewise, she was also named a Top Ten Under 40 by Hickory Young Professionals in 2018.
Ms. Matthews was inspired to pursue a career in the field by her late father, Alex Williams, as well as her mentor, the late Charles D. Dixon.
