Prior to embarking upon her professional path, she pursued an education at Clark Atlanta University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in social studies and media in 1954 and a Master of Science in library science in 1968. A certified teacher through the Georgia Department of Education, Ms. Malcolm has been certified in risk reduction by the Georgia Department of Risk Reduction.
Involved in her community for many years, Ms. Malcolm proudly served the Hospital Auxiliary as president. The organization subsequently honored her with a First Humanitarian Award for her services. Ms. Malcolm is also a past president of the Orchettes Civic Club and the United Methodist Women as well as a past district president of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Malcolm is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Furthermore, Ms. Malcolm was the president and the chairman of The Links, Inc., in LaGrange, Georgia, an organization whose purpose is to promote and engage in educational, civic and intercultural activities to enrich the lives of members of the communities in which they serve. She is also an active member of the Business and Professional Women, which had presented her with a Sojourner Trust Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Malcolm has been included in the 25th edition of Who's Who of American Women.
