Since 2000, he has specialized in the development of molecular and biological assessments of immune response in close collaboration with his wife Olga, an experienced and gifted chemist. Throughout his career, Dr. Kachurin has obtained two Russian patents as well as 18 patents in the United States.
Furthermore, Dr. Kachurin has contributed his wealth of knowledge to a numerous articles and publications. Along with other scholars in the field, he has co-authored "Fluorescence Adherence Inhibition Assay: A Novel Functional Assessment of Blocking Virus Attachment by Vaccine-Induced Antibodies," "Artificial tissue constructs comprising alveolar cells and methods for using the same" and "Neuraminidase-Inhibiting Antibody Is a Correlate of Cross-Protection against Lethal H5N1 Influenza Virus in Ferrets Immunized with Seasonal Influenza Vaccine." Prior to entering the field, Dr. Kachurin earned a Doctor of Philosophy in molecular and radiation biophysics at the Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute in 1985.

In 2015, he accepted the Second Place Science Award from the North American research and development hub of Sanofi.
