Sociable with many senatorial candidates who helped her at the onset of her career such as Senators Ben Cayetano and Lehua Fernandes Salling, Ms. Cobb began her professional life as a Medicare Supervisor with the Hawaii Medical Service Association in 1964, remaining in this position for four years. Due to a move, she became Business Manager of the Micronesian Occupational Center in Koror, Palau from 1968 to 1970. Returning to Hawaii, she served on the initial committee forming the Neighbor Island MLS Service and served as secretary between 1985 to 1987, and vice chairperson from 1987 until 1988 and was chairman of M LS Hawaii, Inc., from 1988 to 1990. Ms. Cobb is principal broker of her own company, Cobb Realty in Lihue since 1983.
Prior to the start of her career, Ms. Cobb pursued a formal education at Bob Jones University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. She then matriculated at the Vitousek School of Real Estate in Honolulu where she attained her broker's license in 1981. Ms. Cobb has also attained her Certified Residential Specialist and Certified Residential Brokerage designations.
Active in her local community, Ms. Cobb was a board director for the Kekahu Foundation from 1999 to 2001, the Koloa Community Association from 2002 to present, the Kauai United Way 2003-20004. She also served as Director and President of Ho ike Public TV, the Kauai Schools Advisory Council, KKCR Radio and the Kauai Independent Food Bank as director and President. Other civic endeavors include past service as an associate editor of the Journal of Entomology from 1965 to 1966.
Outside of her primary trade, Ms. Cobb has served the Kauai Board of Realtors as the vice president in 1984, president in 1985, board director from 1995 to 1997, and treasurer in 1999 and 2007. Additionally, she served the Hawaii Association of Realtors as a state board director in 1984 then Vice President in 1985 and direct from 1995 to 1996 and between 2004 and 2006. She has been involved with the Chamber of Commerce.
The highlight of Ms. Cobb's career was just being there for anyone who needed her to be there for them. Anyone who asked for her help, she was always willing to help them. Recognized for her accomplishments, she was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's who of American Woman. She was married to her late husband James Jackson Cobb since 1962 and is the proud mother of two wonderful children, Shelly Ranelle and Bret Kimo Jackson.
