Dr. Wiebenga excelled as the professor of philosophy and the president of Central College of Pella, Iowa for more than 30 years. He previously pursued an education at Calvin College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and English in 1960. Dr. Wiebenga subsequently concluded his studies at Yale University, earning a Master of Arts in 1966 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1966.
From 1963 to 1964, Dr. Wiebenga worked as an assistant in instruction at Yale University. He later served American University as an assistant professor of philosophy in 1964, the acting chairman of the philosophy department in 1968, and the associate professor in 1969. He also found success at American University as the associate dean of undergraduate programs in 1969 and the acting dean from 1969 to 1970. Moreover, Dr. Wiebenga contributed to the aforementioned university as the dean of the college of arts and sciences from 1970 to 1973.
Furthermore, Dr. Wiebenga flourished as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Christian University from 1973 to 1977. From 1977 to 1990, he held the posts of an associate professor of philosophy and the provost of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. Additionally, Dr. Wiebenga was active as the president of Central College in Pella, Iowa, in 1990.
Beyond his primary responsibilities in his field, Dr. Wiebenga provided his wealth of knowledge to articles published in professional journals. He had maintained his involvement as a consultant-evaluator for the North Central Association of Chicago in 1987 and the Lutheran Education Conference of North America from 1986 to 1990. Likewise, Dr. Wiebenga was a member of the American Philosophical Association.
