Beginning her career in 1959, Ms. Boccieri decided to become an educator because, at the time, her options were limited to teaching, nursing, and secretarial work. Despite initially wanting to become a lawyer, she tried teaching as there were many available jobs, and realized her passion for the profession. Ms. Boccieri subsequently returned to academia, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Youngstown State University in 1963 and a Master of Education at the University of North Florida in 1989.
From 1963 to 1967, Ms. Boccieri worked as a teacher for the several schools in Ohio. She relocated to Florida, and taught at Montclair Elementary School in Orange Park, FL, from 1977 to 1983. She later served as an administrative assistant for Moore Enterprises of Jacksonville, FL, between 1983 to 1985 before transitioning back to the classroom at Green Cove Springs Elementary School. Ms. Boccieri continued to teach until 1989, when she accepted an administrative role as the coordinator of community relations for Clay County School District of Green Cove Springs, FL, where she flourished through 1992.
Active as an assistant principal for Clay County School District in 1992, Ms. Boccieri excelled as the principal of C.E. Bennett Elementary School from 1996 until her retirement in 2009. During her time in that position, she helped the aforementioned school improve its state approval rating from a grade of D to an A, an accomplishment she considers a highlight of her career. Since 1981, Ms. Boccieri has found success as the co-owner of FAS Adjustment Bureau, Inc., in Orange Park, FL.
Ms. Boccieri is the author of "Hands Across the Generations," a 1990 Omni Award winner. She is a recipient of the 8th Point of Light, as presented by President George H.W. Bush in 1989, and has been recognized as a Master Teacher by the Florida Department of Education. Moreover, Ms. Boccieri was a member of the American Association of School Administrators and the National Association of Partners in Education, to which she contributed on the nominating committee.
