With 15 years of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Hickey has excelled as the curator of exhibitions at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette since 2018. Prior to obtaining his current role, he worked as the co-founder and curator at Outside Gallery from 2016 to 2018. Moreover, Mr. Hickey found success as the curator of collections and exhibitions at the Masur Museum of Art from 2010 to 2018.
Previously, Mr. Hickey served as an associate preparator and an apprentice cabinet maker for the Albright-Knox Art Gallery from 2008 to 2010. He began his career as an exhibitions intern with the aforementioned organization from 2004 to 2008. Mr. Hickey has also been active as an adjunct professor for Canisius College and Louisiana Tech University.
Prior to embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Hickey pursued an education with Canisius College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history in 2004. He concluded his studies with the University of California Riverside, earning a Master of Arts in art history in 2008. A respected voice in his field, Mr. Hickey is currently a trustee-at-large for the Association of Art Museum Curators. Radio Station KEDM inducted Mr. Hickey into its Hall of Fame in 2017 for his service over the previous three years and named him Volunteer of the Year. He was a member of KEDM's NPR Affiliate in Monroe, LA from 2010 to 2018 and served on its Community Advisory Board from 2014 to 2017.
