Dr. Vinay Vanodia has also had the honor of designing and developing a 3D-printed myoelectric prosthesis in a non-commercial setting and its successful delivery in a third-world setting.
NEW YORK, NY, November 06, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vinay Vanodia has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biological engineering in 2003 from the University of Maryland, Dr. Vanodia began his career working for a professor in a laboratory researching artificial bone growth in vitro. It was during this time that he was first introduced to the field of prosthetics and amputee care when he met an above-knee amputee who worked at the laboratory. He learned of the individual's road to recovery from amputation to ambulation, and also learned of her difficulties and limitations. She invited him to meet her prosthetist, the person that made her prosthetic limbs, which opened up an entire new world to Dr. Vanodia. Dr. Vanodia started volunteering at the prosthetics clinic and eventually went back to school to receive a post-graduate certificate in prosthetics education and later became an American Board Certified Prosthetist. He worked in the Baltimore area, at Dankmeyer Inc, helping to cover amputee clinics at local hospitals like Sinai Life Bridge and Johns Hopkins. During that time Dr. Vanodia helped hundreds of individuals return to an active lifestyle after amputation. Dr. Vanodia worked as a certified prosthetist for several years before going on an overseas medical trip to Vrindavan, India and realizing that he could serve so many more people with a medical background. He gave up his successful career as a prosthetist to attend medical school. Dr. Vanodia earned a Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, where he served as a resident advisor in his last semester.
After graduating medical school, Dr. Vanodia worked as a prelim medicine resident physician with MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. One year later, he excelled as a resident physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation for Montefiore Health System, where he remains to this day as chief resident. An expert in his field, he has contributed his wealth of knowledge to a number of creative works, including "Gait Deviations of the Transfemoral Amputee – An Educational Video" and "From Amputation to Ambulation – Board Review." He continues to educate physicians and healthcare workers on amputee care and also set up support groups for amputees in the community. Dr. Vanodia has also had the honor of designing and developing a 3D-printed myoelectric prosthesis in a non-commercial setting and its successful delivery in a third-world setting.
Dr. Vanodia retains his affiliation with the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has presented at both national assemblies on the topic of prosthetics. During his spare time, he dedicates his time and efforts to adaptive sports, bhakti yoga and overseas medical missions. Looking toward the future, Dr. Vanodia aims to run his own comprehensive prosthetic and amputee clinic with a focus on education and holistic approach to medicine.
