He found further success as the vice president of McRae Energy Resources, Inc., from 1981 to 1982 and as the president of Technical Personnel Services of Michigan, Ltd. from 1980 to 1981. Mr. Smith began his career as the vice president of RG Corace, PC, from 1970 to 1976 and an attorney operating out of his private practice from 1976 to 1980.
Mr. Smith initially pursued an education with Montieth College of Wayne State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Philosophy in 1966. He continued his studies with the aforementioned school, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969. Mr. Smith has been admitted to practice law in the state of Michigan, as well as before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Throughout his career, Mr. Smith has been recognized for his exemplary contributions to his field. He was recognized as the Elk of the Year by the Royal Oak chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, is a Past Exalted Ruler thereof, and is an Honorary Founder of the Elks National Foundation. Likewise, Mr. Smith has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in the World.
