With nearly 50 years of professional experience, Ms. Robinson has been recognized as chair emeritus of the Ohio Arts Council since 2001. Prior to her retirement, she was the chair of the Ohio Arts Council from 1987 to 2001, the chair of Arts Midwest from 1996 to 2002, and the chair of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies from 1991 to 1995. From 1956 to 1958, she worked in marketing research for Harvard Business School. Earlier in her career, Ms. Robinson was the assistant director of public relations at Wellesley College in Massachusetts from 1953 to 1956 and an administrative assistant to the manager of Bonwit Teller & Co. from 1952 to 1953.
A civically-minded professional, Ms. Robinson has volunteered in her field and community. She was the co-chair of the ACAC Campaign Renewal Committee from 2014 to 2016, a member of the advisory committee of the Center or Arts-Inspired Learning and the chair of the Cleveland Arts Prize from 2011 to 2015. She is currently a chair emeritus at The Cleveland Institute of Music and Arts Midwest and trustee of Americans for the Arts.
Ms. Robinson began her career as a student at Wellesley College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1951. She continued her studies with Harvard Radcliffe Program in Business Administration in 1952. In order to keep abreast of developments in her field, she maintains professional affiliation with the Contemporary Art Society at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Musical Arts Association and the Print Club of Cleveland. Ms. Robinson has also been active with the Wellesley College Club, and the Cleveland chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
Throughout her career, Ms. Robinson has been recognized for her contributions, including with the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies Special Recognition Award and the Mayor's Award for Volunteerism from the city of Cleveland. Presented with an Annual Award in Dance from Northern Ohio Live and a Helen Homans Gilbert Award for distinguished volunteer service from Radcliffe College, she has also been honored with the Career Woman of Achievement Award in Cultural Arts by the YWCA. Furthermore, she has received a Governor's Award from the Ohio Newspaper Association and a Volunteer of the Year Award from Leadership Cleveland. She won the Cleveland Arts Prize in 2001, the Distinguished Public Service Award in 2001 and the YWCA Career Women of Achievement Award in Cultural Arts in 1988. Likewise, Ms. Robinson was named Outstanding Northeast Ohio Arts Advocate in 2007 and an honoree of the Cleveland San Jose Ballet Ball in 1997. Ms. Robinson has been inducted into the Shaker Heights Hall of Fame and was named Captain of Cleveland by the Cleveland Visitors and Convention Bureau. She will receive the Cleveland Heritage Medal in 2019.
