Inspired by relatives who were also working as teachers, Mr. Attig was encouraged to pursue a career in the field of education. In the early 1960s, he began his career as a social studies teacher for Lyons Township High School, where he remained for four years. Subsequently, he served Henry Gunn High School in Palo Alto in the same position between 1965 and 1972 and again from 1978 to 1998. Over the years, he has also gained valuable expertise as a university faculty associate with Simon Fraser University and as a social studies teacher for both Jordan Junior High School and Cubberley Senior High School.
An expert in his field, Mr. Attig initially earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University in 1958. He concluded his academic efforts with a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago in 1961. He is the founder of the board of directors of the Nobel Peace Laureate Project. Utilizing his considerable expertise, Mr. Attig authored "College in Three Years: Stop Wasting Time and Money" in 2002. Moreover, he has provided his wealth of knowledge to a number of articles in professional journals and created several classroom simulation games. In light of his accomplishments, he was recognized as a fellow of the National Endowment of the Humanities in 1983, 1987 and 1989, and a teacher fellow of Saint Andrews University in Scotland in 1993.
