LA PLATA, MD, November 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lewis F. McIntyre has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. With more than 45 years of experience to his credit, Lewis McIntyre has excelled, first as a Naval officer, then as a senior communications systems engineer, with a unique talent for bridging the communications gap between operators and engineers. He was able to translate operational requirements for new missions into detailed technical requirements to be used by engineers, and engineering technical manuals into training products and user manuals easily read and understood by operators and sailors. With a passion for history and cultures, following the September 11th attacks, Mr. McIntyre worked as open-source intelligence collector for the U.S. Army as a second job, producing a weekly report on terrorist operations around the world.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. McIntyre pursued an education at Asheville Catholic School. He decided upon a career in the military, joining the Naval Air Reserve at the Naval Air Station Atlanta, Georgia, thereby gaining an appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. He graduated from there in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering. He earned his wings as a Naval aviator, reporting to his first squadron, VQ-4 in Patuxent River, MD in 1972 to fly the EC-130 Hercules, forming a bond with the strategic communications aviation community that would last a lifetime. He concluded his studies at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, in 1977, graduating with a Master of Science in aeronautical engineering. Inspired by Bill Coyne, a visionary commanding officer of VQ-4, to make the as-yet unrecognized strategic communications community a viable career path, Mr. McIntyre then returned for his second tour with VQ-3 in Guam. He thereby became a 'True Believer', one of the trailblazing pioneers who helped bring life to that nascent community.
Mr. McIntyre next served with the Operational Test and Evaluation Force, Norfolk VA, conducting ground-breaking operational tests of his beloved EC-130 Hercules. He embarked on three aircraft carriers as battle group communications officer, deploying twice to the Indian Ocean in the early 1980s. He rounded out his Naval career with two tours at Offutt Air Force Base, NE. With the Berlin Wall down and a generation of peace seeming on the horizon, Mr. McIntyre retired from the U.S. Navy there on July 31, 1990. On the following day, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.
Mr. McIntyre returned to strategic communications as contractor, serving with several small companies, from 1990 on, as systems communications engineer, ultimately ending with SAIC in 2007. In that capacity, he shepherded his strategic communications community through new airframes, new missions and vastly expanded communications capabilities over the next three decades.
Mr. McIntyre has found much success in his third career as author with Come, Follow Me, a Story of Pilate and Jesus and The Eagle and the Dragon, A Novel of Rome and China. The latter has received The Maryland Writers' Association Book of the Year for 2018, the Jenkins Group eLit Award, and the North American Book Exchange Pinnacle Award, as well as rave reviews, since its publications in 2017. He further developed a presentation based on the research for the aforementioned novel, "Roman Maritime Trade in the Indian Ocean," which has since been shared at two historical writers' conferences. Mr. McIntyre is currently seeking publication of True Believers: The Founding Fathers of TACAMO, the story of the rise of his aviation community from obscurity.
Mr. McIntyre is affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He is vice president of the Charles County chapter of the Maryland Writers Association and is active on the board of directors for the Charles County Arts Alliance. Likewise, Mr. McIntyre is a member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Radio Relay League, the National Rifle Association and the United States Naval Institute.

Living in La Plata, MD, he enjoys spending his free time with his wife of 40 years, Karen, who is also an award-winning author, as well as their two children and one grandchild.
