With more than 50 years of professional experience to his credit, Tom Tsuyoshi Hashimoto has set himself apart as a leader in the field of engineering, specializing in steel structured designs. With a passion for his work and an innovative spirit, he has made strides as both an employee and as the founder of his own company, Hashimoto and Associates. A native of Okayama, Japan, Mr. Hashimoto became well-prepared for the future by attending Multnomah Junior College, a two-year, private college located in Portland, Oregon, in 1963. He continued his educational journey at the University of Portland, one of the top 10 universities in the west, where he completed the necessary coursework to obtain his Bachelor of Science in engineering in 1968.
Following this accomplishment, Mr. Hashimoto launched his career at Lee C. Moore, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he served as a design engineer from 1966 to 1974. He then went on to take a position as a chief structural engineer at Skytop Brewster, located in Victoria, Texas, from 1974 to 1977. After this role, Mr. Hashimoto briefly contributed as a project engineer for Victoria Machine Works, soon moving up the ranks to take on a leadership position at Branham Industries, Inc. and thriving as the organization's vice president of engineering and research and development from 1978 to 1991. His prowess and expertise were noticed, and Mr. Hashimoto subsequently became the engineering manager for Dreco, Inc., located in Rosenberg, Texas. In 1993, he used his prior experiences and knowledge of the field to become the owner of Hashimoto and Associates in Conroe, Texas. Mr. Hashimoto found success in this position until his retirement in 2001.
Over the course of his lengthy career, Mr. Hashimoto's work has not only allowed him to travel all over the world on nearly 50 engineering assignments, but it also provided him the ability to change the industry. He was exceptionally proud designing an oil well derrick, which made a world record and twice drilled five miles deep. A widely regarded expert in his field, Mr. Hashimoto also holds five U.S. patents for his inventions, in addition to lending his expertise in designing a derrick and land rig.
For his exceptional contributions to the field, Mr. Hashimoto has been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. Among them is his inclusion in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, which was published in 1997. Mr. Hashimoto is also the recipient of the prestigious Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, professional excellence and prominence in the field.
Mr. Hashimoto was born 94 miles east of Hiroshima, where the atomic bomb landed, and is the son of Taro and Yoshiko Urata Hashimoto. Currently an Oregon resident, he has been married to Yoshiko Hashimoto for nearly 50 years and together, they are the proud parents of Clifton T. Hashimoto, Mark T. Hashimoto and Emily Y. Miotbo, well-educated children in professional careers. They are also the doting grandparents of four grandchildren. Mr. Hashimoto and his wife are happily living in the scenic Cascade Mountains near the Pacific Ocean, where they enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the horizon. It is Mr. Hashimoto's wish to "have his ashes spread across the Pacific Ocean to be able to eternally experience the bright sunrise shining on his mother's country."
