Offering full-service eye care and various types of surgeries and procedures at his office, the Ocean Eye Institute has been credited with performing over 80,000 surgeries since they've been active in business. Prior to joining their staff, Dr. Spedick provided two years to his local community in private practice in Long Branch. He remains the ophthalmology chairman at Community Medical Center, a local hospital in Toms River, since 2009 and a clinical assistant professor at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway since 1993.
Born in Trenton, NJ, Dr. Spedick attended college in New Jersey, where he has since resided. He acquired a Bachelor of Science in biology at Seton Hall University in 1974 and a Doctor of Medicine at Rutgers Medical School in 1978. Additional educational pursuits include residencies in internal medicine at Rutgers Affiliated Hospitals and in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and a one-year fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Children's Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Spedick is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
An elected fellow and past president of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Spedick is also a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a specialty fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Other industry-related memberships include the American Medical Association, the Ocean County Medical Society, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group. In 2015, Dr. Spedick received a Physicians of Distinction Award from Community Medical Center.
