CHULA VISTA, CA, December 06, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Karen L. Pearce with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Pearce celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Pearce retired in 2008, having been an elementary resource specialist with the San Diego Unified School District since 1989. Ms. Pearce first pursued an education with San Diego City College, where she obtained an Associate of Arts in 1964. Continuing her studies with San Diego State University, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in social studies in 1966. She then joined Michigan State University, earning a Master of Arts in elementary education in 1981. She has completed graduate coursework in counseling education, mediated learning and dynamic assessment, cognitive peer coach training for educators, and study groups cadre training. She has been certified as a secondary teacher, elementary teacher, learning disabilities teacher and resource specialist in the state of California. She also earned a California standard secondary credential in 1967 and a California standard elementary credential in 1971.

A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Pearce has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. She is a member of the National Education Association, the San Diego Education Association and the California Teachers Association. She has also been active with Phi Delta Kappa, and she was a school liaison and volunteer for the Special Olympics and the Very Special Arts Festival.

Throughout her career, Ms. Pearce has been recognized for her contributions. The recipient of the Scroll of Appreciation from the U.S. Army Base at Heilbronn, she received the Certificate of Excellence from the El Centro Elementary Teachers Association, as well as a Letter of Commendation and Certificate of Appreciation. She received an Outstanding Performance Rating for the school year of 1979 to 1980 and a Certificate of Appreciation for the school year of 1982 to 1983. Furthermore, she was recognized with the We Honor Ours Award from the California Teachers Association in 2005, and has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who of American Teachers.

Throughout her life, she was extremely blessed to have received wonderful support and inspiration from her parents, not only in her professional endeavors but also in everyday matters of her life. Ms. Pearce also received inspiration and support throughout her years of schooling: Mrs. Mullins (4th grade teacher), Mr. Green (7th grade language arts teacher), Mr. Fierro (11th grade social studies teacher) and Mr. Turner (master teacher). After Ms. Pearce began her teaching career, several administrators were inspirational and supportive: Dr. Joseph B.
