Mr. Jose is renowned as a lawyer with more than 45 years specializing in tort law and radiation litigation. He was inspired by his childhood Sunday School teacher, a lawyer and an eloquent speaker, and decided that the best way to help others in need would be to develop the skills to aid them legally. He initially pursued an education at Westmar College, obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1969 before graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Iowa in 1974. While in law school, Mr. Jose was recruited by a U.S. Department of Justice program that selected excellent law school graduates and placed them in agencies of their choosing in Washington, D.C.
Under the auspices of this program, Mr. Jose joined the torts branch of the U.S. Department of Justice in 1974 as a trial attorney. He worked for the aforementioned department as a senior trial attorney in 1982 and as the assistant director of the torts branch from 1983 to 1986. During this time, Mr. Jose earned outstanding performance ratings and argued several cases that he considers to be career highlights, including three cases against Melvin Belli, who was known as "The King of Torts."
In 1986, Mr. Jose entered private practice as a partner at Pepper, Hamilton, & Scheetz, where he remained through 1991. From 1992 to 2004, he found success as a partner at Jose & Weidis. He has notably excelled as the owner and the principal of Jose & Associates since 2004. Moreover, Mr. Jose is a frequent contributor to legal publications and a commended speaker in the field of radiation litigation.
For his exemplary professional efforts, Mr. Jose was the recipient of the John Marshall Award in 1986. He was additionally presented with a number of accolades from the U.S. Department of Justice, including a Special Commendation in 1985 and two Special Achievement Awards.
