Previously, Mr. Joannes gained valuable expertise as a partner with the immigration law firm of Bonaparte and Joannes from 1966 to 1994.
Mr. Joannes began his career as staff counsel with the McCone Commission as well as a law clerk for Judge E. Avery Crary of the U.S. District Court of the Central District of California and Judge Stanley N. Barnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Over the years, he has also parlayed his knowledge of the field to others as a lecturer in immigration law. Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Joannes earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Occidental College in 1956. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California, where he later graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1962. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Joannes was admitted to practice law by the Supreme Court of the United States and the State Bar of California, by which he was certified as a specialist in immigration and nationality law through their Board of Legal Specialization.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Joannes retains his professional alignment with the American Immigration Lawyers Association. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he co-authored "The Immigration Reform and Control Act Handbook."
