After earning a Bachelor of Science in 2016, Mr. Griffin jumped headfirst into the business of financial planning services with TrueNorth Wealth in Utah, where he served as president from 2016 to 2018 and chief executive officer since January 2019. In his present post, he is very focused on his leadership style and prioritizes the creation of an environment that encourages the development and implementation of actionable strategies that drive positioning and profitability. With Mr. Griffin's lead, the company's assets under management have increased year-over-year. In 2018 alone, TrueNorth Wealth's new AUM is up nearly 300% when compared to previous years. 2019 will be TrueNorth Wealth's biggest year since inception of the company. Additionally, client retention is at an all-time high and TrueNorth is poised to exceed that benchmark in 2019, a milestone of which the company is very proud. Mr. Griffin attributes much of his success to his father, DeLoy Griffin, who has had a tremendous impact on his work ethic. DeLoy Griffin was raised on a farm and as he started raising his children in the city, DeLoy was determined to find a way to teach them the value of work. He opened a grocery store, where they began working at the age of nine. Mr. Griffin saw the business world at work right before his eyes, which gave him an appreciation for analytics and developed in him a passion to manage and lead.
Mr. Griffin also credits the founder of his firm, Martin Watkins, as a great influence and mentor. Martin Watkins saw great potential in Mr. Griffin, putting him in leadership roles when there were older or more experienced candidates in the firm for the job. When others questioned Mr. Watkins' decision, he remained firm. Mr. Griffin felt a responsibility to live up to and exceed Mr. Watkins' expectations to substantiate his decision and prove that he had made the right choice. Today, when asked about it, Mr. Watkins asserts, "I made the right choice."
Prior to his tenure with TrueNorth Wealth, Mr. Griffin worked in sales, leading teams that regularly exceeded sales projections, and also worked for a real estate company. With his three wonderful children, Mr. Griffin enjoys the outdoors, specifically mountain biking, camping and boating. Looking toward the future, Mr. Griffin plans to remain with his company as he feels that he has found a home and a career with TrueNorth Wealth.
