A stockbroker and a messenger at Ernst and Company, a professional services firm in Chicago, from 1976 to 1978, Mr. Kruszynski previously worked as a general duties clerk at the Continental Bank from 1971 to 1976 and a dishwasher at Marshall Fields from 1967 to 1971.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Kruszynski pursued an education at DePaul University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 1971. Interested in psychology, he decided to follow a career in law enforcement because it would require a knowledge and understanding of human behavior. He credits Rabbi Pesach Greenberg as a mentor who motivated and inspired him throughout his journey because he introduced him to metaphysics, a branch of philosophy that deals with abstract concepts such as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time and space. Notably, Mr. Kruszynski has been certified as a deputy sheriff by Cook County.
Beyond his primary duties, Mr. Kruszynski found success with his written works. An accomplished poet, he is authoring a collection of poems about the doctors at the Franciscan Center. As a further testament to his success and longevity in the field of poetry, Mr. Kruszynski was recognized as an International Poet of Merit by the International Society of Poets in Washington, D.C., in 2000.
Born in Chicago on September 21, 1949, Mr. Kruszynski was proud of his father, Edward Michael, who was a steel worker. He fondly recalls when his father brought him home a piece of steel, which he painted blue, and he has held on to the keepsake ever since. Civically engaged, Mr. Kruszynski was active as a supporter of the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C., from 1999 to 2000.
