Renowned for his significant contributions to the art world, Mr. Peterson initially earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, cum laude, from the University of South Dakota in 1971. Currently an artist with his own company, Stanley Peterson Graphics, he started out as an artist with the W.H. Over Museum from 1971 to 1972, going on to work as a graphic artist for South Dakota Public TV from 1972 to 1976. As his career progressed, Mr. Peterson worked as a freelance artist in San Francisco from 1976 to 1977, a civil engineering technician in the City of Tracy, CA, from 1977 to 1985, and a contract civil engineering technician in the City of Tracy from 1985 to 1989. Later on in his career, he served as a computer system manager for the City of Tracy from 1989 to 1990 and a principal engineering technician for the County of Sacramento, CA, from 1991 to 2006.
Influenced in part by his father, who was a self-taught artist, Mr. Peterson has been interested in professional art and creative expression from a young age. He has celebrated many accomplishments throughout his education and career, and he notably made a short film that received a standing ovation for an art class. In addition to his primary endeavors, Mr. Peterson has worked as a consultant in his field. He was also a lecturer at the University of South Dakota in 1971.
Mr. Peterson contributed his art skills to a design for a diorama at the W.H. Over Museum in 1972. His work "Norman and Neva" received a California State Fair Award of Merit in 2017, and he was honored with the California State Fair Award of Excellence for "Streamlined" in 2018. He belongs to Phi Eta Sigma, and his achievements have been honored in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
