Inspired by two uncles, a general physician and a surgeon, Dr. Satinsky decided to pursue a career in medicine, culminating in his most recent work in private practice with The Neurology Center, where he began in 1971. Though retired from medicine, he was assistant clinical professor of neurology at George Washington University School of Medicine. Over the years, he has also gained valuable expertise in the field as director of The Neurology Center's Headache Clinic and as attending neurologist for the National Children's Rehabilitation Center. In a career filled with highlights, Dr. Satinsky is especially proud to have served as the principal investigator for the drug Copaxone, which is still in use today.
An expert in his field, Dr. Satinsky earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1960 and 1964 respectively. Subsequently, he pursued an internship at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center from 1964 until 1965, a research associate position with the National Institutes of Mental Health between 1965 and 1967, and a neurology residency through the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1967 until 1970. Throughout his professional life, Dr. Satinsky has also maintained certifications through the State of Maryland, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Qualification in Electroencephalography.
Dr. Satinsky retains his professional alignment with a number of pertinent organizations, including the American Epilepsy Society, The American Headache Society, the American Board of Clinical Biofeedback, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Association, the Montgomery County Medical Society and the American Electroencephalographic Society just to name a few. In past years, he also dedicated himself to his community as a board member for the Center for Unique Learners. Backed by his considerable expertise, he has contributed to several articles such as "The Neurilemma Cell in Peripheral Nerve Degeneration and Regeneration," "Pharmacological Responsiveness of Lateral Geniculate Nucleus Neurons" and "Reticular Influences on Lateral Geniculate Neuron Activity," which have been featured in prestigious publications, including the International Journal of Neuropharmacology. Looking forward, Dr. Satinsky intends to engage in more volunteer work, travel and spend more time indulging in his hobbies.
