Mr. Guthrie is renowned as an information specialist and program manager with more than 35 years of expertise in database management and marketing. He initially pursued an education at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in natural sciences. In 2002, Mr. Guthrie earned a Master of Arts in liberal studies from Georgetown University, an accomplishment he considers a career highlight.

From 1982 to 1984, Mr. Guthrie began his career as a construction materials testing specialist for Oklahoma Testing Laboratories. Working as a laboratory technician for Keplinger International energy Consultants from 1984 to 1986, he briefly served as a technical information specialist for the United States Department of Commerce's National Technical Information Service from 1986 to 1987. Mr. Guthrie subsequently consulted for the World Bank in Washington from 1988 to 1990, and flourished as a contractor for the natural resources policy division of the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress from 1991 to 1993.

Mr. Guthrie found further success on the adjunct faculty at Georgetown University from 1991 to 1994. Since 1993, he has excelled with the National Technical Information Service as a technical specialist. Likewise, he has been active as a program manager at the National Technical Reports Library since 2010. Moreover, he has presented and written extensively on labor history, particularly that of Oklahoma. As a testament to his wealth of knowledge, his thesis, "Labor Unions: Champions of Social Justice," received widespread publication in 2010. Notably, Mr. Guthrie was presented with a 2014 Silver Medal Award from the United States Department of Commerce.
