As a medical officer Dr. Schwehr, served in the German Air Force from 1982 to 1984, attaining the rank of Captain prior to his honorable discharge.
He is married to the medical doctor Dr. Angelika Schwehr. Further he is an active member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) of Germany.
With more than 35 years of experience to his credit Dr. Schwehr has excelled in operating out of his private medical practice as a specialist of internal medicine and cardiology from 1993 to 2009. From 2010 to 2012 he was Managing Director of the MediClin Medical Care Centre (MVZ) at the MediClin Heart Institute Lahr/Baden (MediClin Herzzentrum Lahr/Baden). From January 2013 to October 2015 Deputy Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine and since November 2015 Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine-Cardiology at the District General Hospital Rheinfelden/Baden.
Prior to embarking upon his professional path, he earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Freiburg and completed is doctoral thesis under supervision of Prof. H. Knauf, Dep. of Nephrology at the University of Freiburg, in Germany in 1982. He certified in internal medicine under the guidance of Prof. J. Schirmeister at the Department of Internal Medicine and Nephrology, Municipal Clinical Centre of Karlsruhe, Germany and in the Department of Gastroenterology at District General Hospital in Heppenheim/Germany. Further he completed a fellowship and certified in cardiology under the management of Professor Dr. H. Roskamm at the Heart Centre Bad Krozingen (RHZ). As a medical doctor and specialist of internal medicine and cardiology in Germany moreover he received medical licenses to the health care systems of France and Switzerland and is an active Membre de l 'Ordre des medecins, Paris/France and Member of the Swiss, Medical Association (FMH), Berne/Switzerland.
