A fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Pathologists, the Royal Society of Medicine, Dr. David Donaldson excelled in the medical field for more than 45 years.

A fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Pathologists, the Royal Society of Medicine, Dr. Donaldson excelled in the medical field for more than 45 years before his retirement in 2006. After graduating from medical school, he began his career as a house physician at Selly Oak Hospital and as house surgeon for Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital. Subsequently, he worked at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for one year as a senior house officer in clinical pathology. Drawing on his growing expertise, Dr. Donaldson worked as a registrar in general medicine and as assistant resident medical officer with The Leeds Teaching Hospitals in 1961 and 1962.
Throughout the 1960s, Dr. Donaldson continued to develop his knowledge of the field through educational and registrar positions at Keighley Victoria and other hospitals in Yorkshire, University College London Hospitals, and as the clinical director of pathology for East Surrey Hospital through Redhill, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Before retiring, he channeled a career's worth of knowledge into consultant work, liaising with the NHS Trust, as well as the Gatwick Park Bupa Health Centre. Over the years, Dr. Donaldson also held executive and educational titles with London South Bank University, Southwest Thames Regional Health Authority and the Marie Curie Memorial Foundation.
Prior to embarking upon his tenure with Selly Oak Hospital, Dr. Donaldson earned a Bachelor of Chirurgery and Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Birmingham in 1959. Throughout his career, he has retained professional alignment with several organizations, including the Medical Society of London, the International College of Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, the Royal Society of Biology, the American and British Associations for the Advancement of Science, The Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal Society of Chemistry, The Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine and many more. With considerable knowledge at his disposal, he has authored and co-authored numerous works, including "Diagnostic Function Tests in Chemical Pathology," "Essential Diagnostic Tests in Biochemistry and Hematology" and "Psychiatric Disorders with a Biochemical Basis," which touches on pheochromocytoma– a rare tumor in the adrenal gland– and accepted the Mori Felicitation Award from the International College of Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, in 1998. Additionally, Dr. Donaldson participated on the editorial board of the Journal of the Royal Society of the Promotion of Health and has contributed to more than 100 articles in professional journals. He became Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology in 2001 and a Chartered Biologist in the same year.
Due to his philanthropic works, Dr. Donaldson was honored with the Five-Year Voluntary Long Service Award from Standen House, National Trust in 2017. He has been further recognized in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Looking toward the future, Dr. Donaldson intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
