Dr. Misiek is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with more than 40 years of distinction in his specialty. With the encouragement of his father, he attended the University of Connecticut, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1974, earning a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1978. Dr. Misiek completed advanced training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1982 at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry/Charity hospital of New Orleans.
Dr. Misiek entered private practice in oral surgery in New Orleans from 1982-84, then affiliated as an assistant professor in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the LSU School of Dentistry, becoming the program director of the advanced education program in oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Misiek rose to associate professor in 1987 and professor in 1992. From 1984 through 1998 he served on several academic boards and committees in the ADA, AAOMS, and ABOMS. From 1998 to 2019 Dr.misiek distinguished himself in private practice, serving the community of Charlotte, NC. Currently Dr. Misiek is in private practice in Metairie and Gretna, LA. Dr. Misiek resides in Covington, LA with his wife, Holly Pisarello, and their golden doodles Henry and Daphne.
Dr. Misiek consulted for various institutions, including Carolinas Medical Center (Main, University, and Northeast Campuses ) and Presbyterian Hospital (Main, Huntersville, and Matthews Campuses) in Charlotte, NC. Currently he is a member of the staff at University Medical Center and Children's Hospital in New Orleans. Dr. Misiek is an in-demand lecturer in his field and a frequent contributor of articles and abstracts to professional journals. Well regarded in his field, Dr. Misiek is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana, and American Dental Associations, is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, where he served on special committees for development of standards and practitioner self-assessment, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation, the Jack Kent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation, and the William F. Harrigan Society.
