Richard Gordon has been a recurring guest lecturer at both Peking University Law School and Beijing Normal University Law School.

A celebrated attorney of over 40 years, Mr. Gordon retired in 2017 from Time Oil Co. in Seattle. Hired by the organization in 1985 as Corporate Counsel, he became General Counsel in 2001, a position in which he served until his retirement in 2017. He formerly worked for a private law firm as an attorney in Seattle, for the U.S. Department of Energy Region X in Seattle as Assistant Regional Counsel, and for the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation in Helena initially as the State of Montana's first full-time Water Rights Hearing Examiner and subsequently as a Special Assistant Attorney General assigned to the Department. While an undergraduate at The University of Chicago, Mr. Gordon spent two summers as a Research Assistant for the American Bar Foundation in Chicago.
Alongside his primary career responsibilities, starting in 2006, Mr. Gordon has been a recurring guest lecturer at both Peking University Law School and Beijing Normal University Law School in Beijing, China, lecturing on various aspects of U.S. Environmental Law. Mr. Gordon has traveled to Beijing six times to lecture there to date and is preparing to return to Beijing to lecture at both law schools again in 2020.
A visionary and leader behind numerous community initiatives, Mr. Gordon served on the board of directors of the Fremont Neighborhood Council in Seattle during the 1980's. As a member of the Seattle Hebrew Free Loan Association since 1989, he served as the organization's first vice president in 1993.
Mr. Gordon acquired a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Chicago with special honors in 1972, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence at New York University in 1975. He has been admitted to practice by the State Bar of Montana and the Washington State Bar, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana. Mr. Gordon is also a licensed amateur radio operator.
A member of the Washington State Bar Association's environmental and land use section, business law section and corporate law department section, Mr. Gordon is also an active member of the State Bar of Montana's natural resources law section. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been included in the eighth edition of Who's Who in American Law.
