SAN DIEGO, CA, January 31, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mayank Chadha has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With an affinity for finding patterns in the everyday world, Dr. Chadha excels as a researcher at the University of California San Diego, where he maintains his primary research interests in variational mechanics, continuum mechanics, geometrically-exact beam theory, differential geometry, finite element analysis, applied mechanics and much more. He has served at the aforementioned university as a teaching assistant for numerous graduate and under-graduate structural engineering courses. During his early years with the University of California San Diego, he designed and instructed the course called "Introduction to Structural Engineering from Pyramids to Modern Marvels" for the UCSD Extension Summer Program. He is also the instructor for a course on "statics" in the Structural Engineering Department at UCSD for the fall of 2019.
Before relocating to the United States in pursuit of higher education, Dr. Chadha gained valuable expertise as a guest lecturer in the department of civil engineering at the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology and as a guest speaker at various organizations within PSG College of Technology. Even though his career has already been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of actively participating and volunteering in the Engineering Mechanics Institute Conference (EMI 2017) and Experimental Vibration Analysis for Civil Engineering Structures (EVACES 2017) Conferences at the University of California San Diego in 2017. Dedicated to mentoring others in the industry, Dr. Chadha has helped to organize various outreach events for high school and undergraduate students, including "Shake Table" tours for the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) events at UCSD.
An expert in his field, Dr. Chadha earned a Bachelor of Engineering in civil engineering from the PSG College of Technology at Anna University in 2014. Two years later, he obtained a Master of Science in structural engineering through the University of California San Diego, where he received his Doctor of Philosophy in the fall of 2019. Dr. Chadha's Ph.D. thesis title is "Theoretical development of framed space curve and its applications to higher-order geometrically-exact rod theory, shape sensing, path estimation, and computer graphics."
Utilizing his expansive knowledge of the field, Dr. Chadha has also reviewed research papers in various international journals including "IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics," "Measurement Science and Technology" and "Smart Material and Structures." Additionally, he has authored articles, including "On the material and material-adapted approach to curve framing and its application to path estimation, shape sensing and computer graphics" and "On the derivatives of curvature of framed space curve and their time-updating scheme." Dr. Chadha has published his research in prestigious professional journals such as the International Journal of Solids and Structures, the American Society of Mechanical Engineering's Journal of Applied Mechanics, Computers & Structures and Applied Mathematics Letters. He has presented his research in various international conferences including the "European Conference on Computational Mechanics and Fluid Dynamics (ECCM-ECFD 2018)," "Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI 2018)" and others.
Due to his outstanding achievements, Dr. Chadha was presented with two Gold Medals for Academic Performance in 10th and 12th grade through the Directorate of Education of the Government of India. In 2010, he was recognized with the title of "Amul Vidya Bhusan" for his outstanding academic performance in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Examinations. Dr. Chadha has also been a recipient of a Gold Medal awarded for consistently topping the undergraduate class for all his semesters at PSG College of Technology, Anna University. In 2017, he accepted the Ruth Newmark Fellowship Award from Friends of the International Center at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Chadha is currently holding a Postdoctoral scholar position at the University of California San Diego working towards developing Bayesian model parameter and model class optimization solutions for civil infrastructure systems and a framework for risk-based optimal sensing.
