Having over 55 years of professional experience as a civil and structural engineer M. Rudolf accrued more than 30 years of specialization in tunneling, bridges and pre-stressed concrete aerial structures of large infrastructure projects. He has distinguished himself as the Chief Civil/Structural Engineer being directly involved in the design and field engineering in construction management team of the original 106 miles of Washington, DC Metrorail since the inception in the beginning of 1970.
Since 2013, Mr. Rudolf has worked as the Chief Structural Engineer for Gall Zeidler (GZ) Consultants. Prior to his work with the firm, he found success as the Chief/Project Engineer on the Design Builder project, being responsible for five separate disciplines of their Phase one of the Metro Silver Line extension through Tysons Corner to Washington International Airport at Dulles in Virginia.
He is proud to have been part of the WMATA team and Design/Builder team, and now 83 years age is happy contributing his experience to the GZ team on important infrastructure preliminary designs for Metros, Railroads, High Speed Rails (Maglev), and Highway projects to be built in near future in the US.
Mr. Rudolf has a unique background as a war child; he survived the end of the WWII period in Poland without parents, many times sick and hungry. When after 10 years of separation his mom returned from the US they all united and he succeeded and realized his talents for engineering by graduating Wrocław Polytechnic Institute in Poland with a Master of Science in Civil and Structural Engineering under name of Jan Rudolf. Mr. John Rudolf has been an invited speaker and author of technical presentations at numerous conferences and symposia on tunnels and pre-stressed concrete aerial structures design and construction.
Mr. Rudolf firmly believes that where there is determination, there is a path to success, and considers his move to the United States and learning English affiliating in a highly specialized technical field to be among his greatest successes. John Rudolf's work has been recognized by WMATA for providing innovative contributions benefitting Metro and the public, and he is the recipient of a 1998 meritorious achievement award. He is likewise a member of the Society of Mining, and in previous years with the Concrete Institute, and the International Tunneling and Underground Space Association, and many others.
