Dr. Joseph A. Petrick has taught over 100 different philosophy and business courses for credit at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels winning numerous awards.
SUN CITY CENTER, FL, February 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Joseph A. Petrick with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. His lifetime achievement award is built upon his distinguished interdisciplinary credentials, dual-field tenured career success, award-winning published research, demonstrated teaching excellence at multiple levels, professional service leadership, and global consulting services. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Petrick earned his interdisciplinary Ph.D. in comparative philosophy and international management as a National Woodrow Wilson Fellow from Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from the University of Cincinnati with advanced work at the University of Bonn in Germany and the University of Tokyo in Japan. What is remarkable about Dr. Petrick's career success in higher education is that he was promoted and tenured in two different fields (philosophy and business) at two different universities in two different states. He was initially tenured as an associate professor and head of the philosophy program at Northern Kentucky University after serving as an assistant professor of philosophy at the College of Charleston. He was later tenured and retired after 24 years as an emeritus full professor of management and international business from Wright State University (WSU) in Ohio, after serving as a cooperative education field professor at the University of Cincinnati, off-campus business department head at Wilmington College and an assistant dean at Southern Ohio College.
Dr. Petrick published over 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference research papers along with four books: Management Ethics: Integrity at Work, Total Quality and Organization Development, Total Quality in Managing Human Resources, and Managing Project Quality. Two of the books have been translated into Japanese, Chinese and Spanish. His two distinctive research contributions include: (1) Sustainable Stakeholder Capitalism (SSC) theory, which argues for a more inclusive and naturally sustainable form of economic development and maintains that the current economic policy based on investor capitalism that overemphasizes financial capital and prioritizes property rights over all other rights invariably leads to systemic corruption and the loss of human capital, social capital and natural capital. (2) Integrity Capacity (IC) theory, which reframes leadership ethics into a multi-dimensional, measurable intangible strategic asset that enhances individual and collective trustworthy reputations that are critical for personal and organizational politico-economic success and for which leaders are to be held accountable. He was appointed to the editorial advisory boards of five management journals to evaluate research for publication. Dr. Petrick has been the recipient of over 25 domestic and global research awards and has been described by faculty at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania as "being among the 'World's Who's Who' List of distinguished business ethics scholars and teachers guiding tomorrow's managers as they navigate the currents of globalization."
Dr. Petrick has taught over 100 different philosophy and business courses for credit at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels winning numerous awards for individual and team instructional innovation.
As a visiting professor he has provided training and consulting services to organizations in China, India, Japan, Germany, England, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, South Africa, Australia, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. At WSU, Dr. Petrick created the Institute for Business Integrity to improve the moral reasoning and ethical performance of future business leaders and through extracurricular teaching/coaching he led the WSU Ethics Bowl team to successfully compete against 200 universities in the timed moral analysis and oral resolution of fifteen cases of contemporary moral dilemmas at the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl. In 2002 WSU won the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl Championship – the only Ohio university to ever win that prestigious national competition. In 2004 and 2008 the WSU team also became the National Runner-Up Champions.
Dr. Petrick has been elected to multiple leadership roles in regional, national and international professional associations. He was selected to serve on the Human Resource Certification (HRCI) National Board of Directors in Washington, D.C., which is the professional body that certifies all human resource professionals in the United States. He was elected to be President of the Midwestern Human Resource Management Association and President of the International Business Honor Society. Due to his published research on quality management, he was also selected by the U.S. Department of Commerce to serve as a national, state and metropolitan Baldrige Examiner to assess and improve performance in private, public and nonprofit organizations in the United States. In addition, Dr. Petrick has served as the CEO of three consulting/training organizations to develop and promote wise leadership domestically and globally: Performance Leadership Associates, Integrity Capacity Associates and the Institute for Secular Wisdom. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Petrick has been cited in over a dozen editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
