To wit, he has contributed his services at Staten Island University Hospital, Richmond University Medical Center, New York Methodist Hospital, Maimonides Medical Center and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Previously, Dr. Rayham gained valuable expertise as an attending general surgeon for the department of surgery at Olmstead County Medical Center attending to the patients requiring interventions after traumatic injuries and other surgical problems.
Dr. Rayham received his plastic and reconstructive surgery training at the world famous Mayo Clinic, which for the last several decades has been considered to be a premier institution treating patients from all around the world with conditions that often times cannot be treated elsewhere. His extensive experience from the Mayo Clinic allowed him to offer his patients treatments and procedures that are rather rare and unique. Although his career has been suffused with highlights, Dr. Rayham is especially proud to have been involved in a number of operations to separate several pairs of conjoined Siamese twins.
Additionally, Dr. Rayham worked as a fellow in aesthetic plastic surgery for the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, refining cosmetic surgery skills and developing new techniques in the field of aesthetic surgery. In the pursuit of his medal career, Dr. Rayham earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Brooklyn College in 1996 and a Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in 2000. He subsequently completed a five-year general surgery residency through the department of surgery at Staten Island University Hospital.
Earlier in his carrier Dr. Rayham had been involved with clinical and basic science research as a research assistant with the department of chemistry at Brooklyn College and was honored to receive the Chandler Mc. C. Brooks Competitive Fellowship. Later he was involved as a research associate and a researcher with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and Staten Island University Hospital in the field of clinical research.
Dr. Roman Rayham is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the American Medical Association, Medical Society of the State of New York, the Medical Society of Kings County, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, along with a number of other national and regional associations and honor societies.
A devoted community advocate and a philanthropist, Dr. Rayham has volunteered his time at the free local community clinics and hospitals providing services to the needy and infirm requiring services of a reconstructive plastic surgeon treating congenital deformities, burns and hand injuries. He has also participated in a number of trips to third world countries as a volunteer surgeon, treating children with congenital deformities, such as cleft lips and palates, burn injuries and other defects.
