After more than 40 years of experience in the petroleum industry, Mr. Work retired from his role as Vice President and General Manager of the IPR Egypt Companies (IPR TransOil, IPR Energy Red Sea and IPR Energy Suez) in Cairo, Egypt in late 2014 (IPR Egypt is a wholly owned company of IPR Energy Group based in Dallas, Texas). Mr. Work's "hands on" leadership at IPR Egypt resulted in a significant increase in IPR's reserves and production which added significant value to IPR and its shareholders. A proven oil finder, he has valuable experience in negotiating with foreign governments and establishing a corporate presence in various countries. During the 2000s, he perfected his knowledge of oil and gas exploration, development and operations through various executive positions with Western Desert Petroleum Operating Company (WEPCO) in Alexandria, Egypt and IPR Egypt in Cairo. Previously, he gained valuable expertise in management with Triton Energy, Triton Oman, Triton Argentina, Trend International, Denison Mines Ltd. of Toronto, Canada and Occidental International Exploration and Production Company in Bakersfield, California. Mr. Work began his career in the oil and gas industry as a staff development geologist in Cities Service's Mid-Continent Regional Office in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1976.
From 1966-67, Mr. Work pursued undergraduate work in engineering at the University of Rhode Island. He subsequently received a bachelor's degree in geology from Wichita State University in 1975 after serving in the USAF in the Vietnam War. He later became an AAPG Certified Petroleum Geologist, and a State of Texas Board Licensed Geologist. Mr. Work retains his professional affiliation with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, and the Houston and Kansas Geological Societies.
Prior to his affiliation within the petroleum industry, Mr. Work served his country as a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War veteran where he received the USAF Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. In the future, he plans to continue enjoying his retirement by fossil hunting and traveling the world with his wife, Sandi.
