An acclaimed educator with many years of experience, Dr. Henager Greene excels as the Assistant Dean of the School of Business, and Assistant Professor of Economics at Whitworth University. As an Assistant Professor, she teaches the Principles of Microeconomics, Econometrics, Financial Statement Analysis, and Money Skills courses focusing on personal finance. Additionally, she founded the peer financial group Balance Your Bucs (in honor of the Pirate mascot and Buccaneers) at Whitworth University. Well known for her research expertise, Dr. Henager Greene focuses her studies in the fields of financial literacy and education, as well as personal financial management capabilities, savings, financial behaviors, and student loan debt. Previously, she taught at the University of Georgia, where she earned her PhD, and Brenau University in the Graduate School of Business. Earlier, she gained valuable expertise in finance as the Director of Global Strategic Research for Crown Financial Ministries, a nonprofit organization teaching Biblical financial management, and as a Financial Analyst for Lockheed Martin.
Before entering the field, Dr. Henager Greene earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from Eastern Washington University in 1987. Subsequently, she received a Master of Business Administration from Brenau University in 2008 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Consumer Economics and Family Financial Planning from the University of Georgia in 2014. Further, she retains her professional alignment with the American Council of Consumer Interests (ACCI), where she will serve as President for the 2020-2021 academic year. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, she has contributed to several articles in professional journals such as "Financial Literacy of High School Graduates: Long- and Short-Term Financial Behavior By Age Group," "The Relationship Between Student Loan Debt and Financial Wellness" and "Poverty Levels and Debt Indicators Among Low-Income Households Before and After the Great Recession."
For her professional excellence in the field, Dr. Henager Greene has been honored numerous times. She earned the Outstanding Young Women of America Award in 1989, Performance Incentive Awards through Lockheed Martin in 1992 and 1993, the Core Value Award for Excellence through Crown Financial Ministries in 2005 and the Best Journal Article Award in the Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning through the Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Education in 2016. In 2019, her article was the top downloaded article in the Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal, and in 2018, she was recognized by the Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honor Society and voted Most Influential Professor at Whitworth by the senior class. While in graduate school, she also received numerous scholarships and recognitions through the University of Georgia and Eastern Washington University.
