Having accrued more than 40 years of experience in the field of library science, Ms. Isaacs-Bright retired from her position as the head librarian of the Savannah River Site's National Laboratory in 2012. Before moving to her position at the site's national lab, she designed a library for the company's new training facility and served as its director until 1997. Prior to that, she managed one of the site's technology information centers. Prior to her tenure with the aforementioned company, she served as a librarian for Aiken Technical College from 1986 to 1990 and as the Assistant Librarian for Public Services and as an associate professor of library science at the University of South Carolina-Aiken from 1974 to 1986. Ms. Isaacs-Bright began her career as a library technology assistant at the University of South Carolina from 1972 to 1973.
In her career-related endeavors, Ms. Isaacs-Bright flourished as a member of the Aiken County Public Library's Board of Trustees between 1997 and 2003. Moreover, she excelled as a speaker and workshop facilitator to educate the public about the impacts of undiagnosed learning disabilities to a wide range of local organizations. Ms. Isaacs-Bright served in 1980 as a member of President Ronald Reagan's Project Serve to help individuals with handicaps. She was the chairperson of the Midland Valley Library Fund Drive,
Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Isaacs-Bright pursued a formal education at the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1971. Continuing her academic pursuits to their ultimate fruition at the aforementioned university, she subsequently obtained a Master of Library Science in 1974 and a Doctor of Education in 1997. To remain well-versed in the intricacies of her field, Ms. Isaacs-Bright maintained her professional affiliation with several organizations pertinent to her interests, including the American Association of University Women, the Special Library Association, the Christ Central Institute, and the National Management Association.
Ms. Isaacs-Bright also held administrative and committee roles with the South Carolina Library Association, of which she was elected as the president between 1981 and 1984, the Central Savannah River Area Library Association, for which she was the chair of the members committee, and Learning Disabilities Association of South Carolina, as a member of the board of directors from 2002 to 2003. Formerly, she thrived as the editor of a newsletter, The Library Connection, between 1990 and 1996. Likewise, Ms. Isaacs-Bright authored a play titled "This Promise Is Unto You" in 1997 and numerous other church productions.
Ms. Isaacs-Bright initially entered the field as an undergraduate at the University of South Carolina at Atkins Library, and discovered that she greatly enjoyed helping students who otherwise found research tedious. However, she took considerable pride in helping people discover obscure data points in the course of their studies, and resolved to turn this passion into a lifelong career. In the years since her retirement, Ms. Isaacs-Bright has had more time to enjoy such avocations as playing the piano, singing, writing, directing church dramas, and fishing.
