Earlier in his career, and under his direction, the Van Dyke Public School System was presented with a grant for over $160,000 in instruments and equipment from the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. A frequent presenter on grant writing and classroom conflict resolution strategies, Mr. Torrento has been active as an invited speaker at the Michigan Music Conference several times. Additionally, he also is a frequent guest speaker for music education programs at the university level around the state of Michigan.
