Charles P. Roe Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Aviation

Mr. Roe channels years of military excellence into his work with the Federal Aviation Administration



    SILVER SPRINGS, MD, March 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles P. Roe has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Inspired by his patriotic spirit, Mr. Roe decided to pursue a career in the United States Armed Forces. During his time in the force, he held the ranks of an E-5 Ranger and retired with 21 years as an O-4 Field Grade Officer in Infantry and Aviation branches of the U.S. Army. He is credited with planning, coordinating, and managing operations to support the command group decision prior to engagement. Mr. Roe was also responsible for preparing daily reports in response to time-sensitive command group information requirements for the execution of missions. Mr. Roe is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, Combined Arms Service Staff School, Test Pilot Course, Aviation Officers Logistical Course, Aviation Officers Advanced Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing, and the Infantry Officers Basic Course.

After becoming permanently injured during military service, Mr. Roe's mobility was limited due to his saving 199 Infantry soldiers at Tundra Flats, and a small town of 700 civilians in upstate NY. However, he has still been able to contribute to the military via the U.S. Department of Transportation through the Federal Aviation Administration due to his past experience as a Combat Pilot, Test Pilot, G3 Air (General Staff Officer in Aviation), and Aviation Commander. His time in federal service from 1986 until his retirement on December 31, 2019, Mr. Roe served the aforementioned administration as an aeronautical information specialist making maps that provide valuable information to aviators on manmade features railroads, roads, population centers, and topographical information bodies of water, mountains, and land mass on these aeronautical charts. He not only worked on U.S. air space, but also foreign air spaces.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Roe found success as a geographer for the United States Department of Commerce. In this position, he was responsible for digitizing map programs such as American Indian Reservation Boundaries, the Master Address Field and Geocoding, the TIGER Improvement Program, and other geographic program assignments. Mr. Roe also excelled as the military team liaison to the Pentagon for geographic support for the Bureau of Census. Injured at the Pentagon in 2001.

An expert in his field, Mr. Roe initially earned an Associate of Arts from the New Mexico Military Institute (Military College). Subsequently, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from Norwich University (Military College). He also completed coursework at Jefferson Community College, the Community College of Allegheny County, Mountain State University, Donnelly College, and the University of Maryland. Mr. Roe concluded his academic efforts with a Master of Arts in history from Marshall University.

In order to remain aware of changes when working with youth groups interested in aviation like the Boy Scouts, Order of the Arrow, Venturing Scouting, Coast Guard Auxiliary and Sea Scouts, Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary of the U,S. li. Force Cadets in Aerospace Education, and future aviation pilots he provides Aerospace Education and exhibits NASA lunar samples.

Mr. Roe is affiliated with several veterans organizations that provide assistance to veterans like the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Catholic War Veterans Association, the American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Knights of Columbus. Due to his volunteer service accomplishments, he was presented with a Presidential Service Award from the 44th President Barack Hussein Obama II for over 18,000 hours for veterans assistance.

Mr. Roe also received recognition from our 45th President John David and Mrs. Melania Trump, Governor Larry Hogan's Citation from the State of Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman Jamie Raskin, and the National Aviation Hall of Fame. On December 31, 20l9, he retired with over 33 years of distinguished FERS federal service.
