SALEM, OR, March 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Virginia Kaplan has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A Master Gardener with many years of experience behind her, Ms. Kaplan serves as an independent contractor with Landscape Design & Multi-Plant Care. As a child, she was outside much of the time because she was active, athletic, and in truth, a "tomboy." But with time, the living plants and trees drew her; she was inspired to explore and learn about "their world." She was awed by it. Being surrounded by nature came to mean something to Virginia, or "Gini" (the life-long nickname given to Virginia by her mother, Verna Hansen) which was both immediately exciting, and deeply calming. Later, when it was time for her to pursue a professional career, horticulture seemed "a natural," and made the most sense to Ms. Kaplan.
In pursuit of her career, Ms. Kaplan studied integrative pest management, soil sciences, and the nutrient exchange process of plant growth. She also learned a great deal about horticulture, specializing in agri-horticultural studies and reporting. Fascinated with pollination, she further learned how to design pollinator habitat, which provides the pollinating insects an environment in which to pollinate our orchards and many crop plants. She learned these things, and the management of such, at Chemeketa Community College. She earned 70 qualifying degree credits over three years, received 4.0 honor certificates, and ultimately was recognized with an Honorable Certificate of Academic Recognition. She took on master gardener training while still in school and became Master Gardener for her hometown county, Marion in Oregon.
In addition to her expertise in horticulture, Ms. Kaplan challenges herself with the use and description of the English language into quality poetry. This work has a lot of meaning for Ms. Kaplan on an inner personal level. She has now authored three published poems: "Hazy and Uncharted," "Boot Straps of the Heart," and "Fabric of Our Flag." Her most recent poem titled "High Clouds," is being reviewed for publication.
