Mr. Raduege is renowned as a communications and cybersecurity expert with more than 50 years of expertise in military and civilian information network infrastructure. He initially pursued an education at Capital University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialty in mathematics in 1970 before earning Master of Science degrees in business management through Troy State University in 1976 and in telecommunications through the University of Southern Mississippi in 1978.
Mr. Raduege was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1970 and served more than thirty-five years in uniform. During his military career, he served throughout the world in areas of information technology, including command and control; communications; national security and emergency preparedness; and space, network, and cyber operations.
In 1988, Raduege was appointed as the chief, strategic warning systems for the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, followed by an assignment as the chief of satellite communications where he served as the architect for all satellite communications supporting over 500,000 deployed military members during the 1991 Gulf War. He subsequently served as executive assistant to the director of command, control, communications, and computer (C4) systems until 1992. Later, he served as the first commander of the Air Force C4 Agency at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois and then as director of command control communications at U.S. Central Command from 1995 to 1998, to include leading C4 relocation efforts after the bombing of Khobar Towers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In 1998, Raduege concurrently directed command and control systems for North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Space Command, and Air Force Space Command. He also served as chief information officer for all three commands, was an architect for developing Department of Defense (DOD) computer network defense and attack capabilities, and was National spokesman for the Department during the successful "Year 2000" computer rollover efforts.
From 2000-2005, Raduege led global network operations and defense for the DOD as director of the Defense Information Systems Agency. In that role, he directed planning, engineering, and implementation of interoperable communications and intelligence systems serving the needs of the President, Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, combatant commanders, and the military services. Notably, he led efforts to restore communications to the Pentagon following the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001; significantly upgraded Presidential communications; and led the expansion of the Department's global networks through a $1 billion transformational communications program which was delivered on-time and under-budget. He concurrently served as manager of the National Communication System and led efforts to prioritize and restore communications throughout New York City, following the terrorist attacks.
He also was appointed by the Secretary of Defense as commander of the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations and deputy commander for global network operations and defense for U.S. Strategic Command. In these roles, he was the first commander assigned responsibility for directing the operation and defense of the Department's global networks to assure timely and secure communications across the Department.
Following his retirement from the U.S. military in 2005, Raduege joined The Cohen Group as a Senior Counselor and continues to serve there today. From 2006-2017, he also served as chairman of the centers for network and cyber innovation and as managing director for cyber risk services for Deloitte & Touché LLP where he worked with clients in reducing risk to their business operations due to cyber-attacks and criminal intrusions. Additionally, he has served as chief executive officer for the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium, as a special government employee of the Department of Homeland Security, and as managing partner of information technology for RIDGE-LANE Limited Partners. From 2008-2011, he co-chaired the Center for Strategic and International Studies Commission on Cybersecurity for the 44th Presidency and, later, served as senior advisor to the Task Force on Cybersecurity for the 45th Presidency. Today, Raduege continues to serve on various boards and advisory groups.
