Having accrued more than 45 years of inimitable expertise as a career educator, Dr. Wong retired from his position at the University of Kansas (KU) in 2010. As a professor and researcher of physics, he taught various freshman introductory courses, as well as several graduate advanced courses. During his tenure, he was instrumental in creating a superconductivity research laboratory on campus with the help of the former Kansas governor – he would serve as the lab's director for 10 years. He was also partly responsible for founding new materials after high-temperature conductivity was discovered. Prior to being recruited by KU, Dr. Wong contributed for one year as a research associate at the University of Iowa.
During his illustrious career in academia, Dr. Wong maintained involvement as a visiting associate professor at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles between 1969 and 1973. He later served as an external examiner for the University of Hong Kong between 1989 and 1992, where he was named as an honorary professor in 1972. In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Wong served as the director of Midwest Superconductivity Inc., a private organization in Lawrence.
In 2014, Dr. Wong co-authored the book, "The Five Dimension Space-Time Universe: A Creation and Grand Unified Field Theory Model" through Scientific Research Publishing. The book presents readers, who are familiar in physics and mathematics, with the five-dimension space-time field theory and its projection into the four-dimension space. Dr. Wong is a member of the American Physical Society. In 1991, he was named Distinguished Kansan, which was presented by Nancy Landon Kassebaum of the U.S. Senate.
A native of Hong Kong, Dr. Wong studied at Duke University where he acquired a Bachelor of Science in 1959 on a full scholarship. Subsequently transferring to Northwestern University, he attained a Master of Science in 1960. Dr. Wong graduated from the aforementioned institution in 1963, having earned a Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical physics.
