Leading a long and successful career as a chemical engineer and educator, Dr. Redey retired as a senior electrochemical engineer with Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne, Illinois, in 2003. He was aligned with the laboratory for 26 years. Since then, Dr. Redey has remained the owner of his own successful company, Communications Systems LR, which he founded in 1996, and he has long been a consultant to various industries and universities in both the U.S. and his home country of Hungary. Prior to leading a very rewarding career in the U.S., he was an assistant professor and scientific adviser at his alma mater, Technical University Budapest, Hungary, for 20 years. For 13 years beginning in 1965, he served two committee for the Electrochemical Production of Electrical Energy. He is a member of the Public Body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
A patentee in his field, Dr. Redey was notably responsible for developing new methods, processes, and instruments for the electrochemistry and material science of batteries, sensors, and metal corrosion, and for electrochemical metal production. Recognized as an industry expert, he has authored and co-authored numerous articles in scholarly journals and was a member of the international editorial board of the Journal of Power Sources from 1975 to 1984. Furthermore, Dr. Redey has been an active member of several science-related organizations, including the Electrochemical Society in the U.S., the International Society for Electrochemistry, and the Hungarian Chemical Society. He is also a member of Sigma Xi.
An alumnus of Technical University of Budapest, Dr. Redey acquired a Master of Science in chemical engineering in 1952, followed by a Doctor of Technology in 1963. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1962.
