Mr. Lasko is a registered pharmacist who retired from Emanate Health Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora, California, in 2016 after nearly 25 years as a clinical pharmacist on staff. He formerly held the role of the chief pharmacist at various medical facilities throughout California, including Santa Fe Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles from 1977 to 1993, Monrovia Memorial Hospital from 1974 to 1977 and City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte from 1968 to 1973. Mr. Lasko began his career in 1964 as a staff pharmacist at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
A leading authority in his field, Mr. Lasko has authored several written works, including "Diabetes Study Guide" in 1972. He subsequently published both "A Clinical Approach to Lipid Abnormalities Study Guide" and "Jet Injection Tested as an Aid in Physiologic Delivery of Insulin" in 1973. The inspiration for "Jet Injection" came from Mr. Lasko's own experience having been married to his wife, who was diabetic, and desiring to find an alternative, less painful way for her to inject herself with insulin.
Born in Chicago, Mr. Lasko attended college locally, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy at the University of Illinois in 1964. While pursuing his degree, he earned distinction as a James Scholar and was inducted into Rho Pi Phi, an international pharmaceutical fraternity. Furthermore, Mr. Lasko is notably a life member of Mensa International and formerly served as the head of the organization's home test between 1982 and 2007.
A testament to his contributions throughout his esteemed career, Mr. Lasko was honored with inclusion in the Greater Los Angeles Area Mensa Hall of Fame in 2007. Moreover, he was the noteworthy recipient of the Roche Hospital Pharmacy Research Award for the 1972 to 1973 term.
