ROCKFORD, IL, April 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joachim Minkwitz has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Minkwitz is renowned as a distinguished mechanical engineer and the president of the Minkwitz Design Service. At the age of nine, he discovered his natural talent for engineering after being presented with an erector set. Subsequently, engineering and design became Mr. Minkwitz' singular passions, and he completed coursework in mechanical engineering at TU Dortmund University.
In 1973, Mr. Minkwitz, a native of Germany, became naturalized as a United States citizen. Since 1977, he has excelled as the president and the principal engineer at Minkwitz Design Service. Specializing in automation and machine design, Mr. Minkwitz considers one of the highlights of his career to have been his work on a seat belt testing machine contracted to General Motors through Rockford Automation, for which he was employed as a translator and a mechanical engineer.
After Mr. Minkwitz developed the machine, General Motors purchased eight, and later tested millions of seat belts for utilization in vehicles across the globe. While at Rockford Automation, he was additionally responsible for the design of drive-end components for use in Vari-Tran manufacturing conveyors. Noted for his clarity of communication and high level of technical understanding in both English and German, Mr. Minkwitz proudly recalls being recruited on short notice as the translator for a ten-hour conference between Rockford Automation and AGFA, a German client, that resulted in a successful sale.
Mr. Minkwitz designed a work holding fixture that is being used to hold a part during the microimaging process. This work holding fixture was then patented by Sonoscan. He has received numerous commendations and recognitions for his work, and Minkwitz Design Service was recognized as Ameritech's Top Selling Agent of the Quarter for the first quarter of 1989. Mr. Minkwitz's portfolio also includes design engineering work for Pentair, Inc.
